Microsoft Account Error - 86000C09

I switched to a Lumia 1020 and I keep getting 'Attention required ; error 86000C09' when syncing my Microsoft account. It syncs when the phone is first booted for a few minutes (enough to restore my app list, call log, settings and some SMS) however after that will not sync again! I'm on my second 1020 (the first had a fault) and have had the same issue on both phones.

I had come from a Lumia 925 and didn't have this issue (that I had noticed), is there anything going on with Microsofts servers ATM? Its really anoying as when I try and upload a pic to skydrive it throws up the same error (I can still upload via the skidrive app).

UPDATE: So after 4 days not being able to sync I changed the option 'download email from' to 'the past 7 days' and suddenly everything synced?!?

having the same problem, been resetting my phone to try to fix it several times now.. no luck. :( will try your method.
