Why does my computer shut down over night, when I choose for it to SLEEP?

At night, I choose for my PC to sleep, when I get up the next day, the unit is not on so I have push the power button to wake it. I am aware of the power settings and I checked to see if I had told it to shut down. It is not to hard to press the power button each time. It saves where I was online, my work, and does not require a password, so maybe this is hibernation. It was only slightly easier, to bump the table or move the mouse or hit a button on the keyboard, to awaken it, as it was in win 8.1 .
