omnia/redfly problems

just got an omnia, and when connected the homescreen is white and all apps appear as a 200x400 rectangle, no internet connection at all. phone is essentially a brick when connected. no internet connection at all when connected by usb. this phone was recommended by celio and redfly software just screws it up. all drivers are the latest and same on both redfly and omnia.

ok ive figured out some things to change and got it working. but about the homescreen, what kind of picture must i use so the homescreen doesnt white out?
