Surface Pro Power Cable Extension

So I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who thinks the length of the surface pro power cable is too short. I was wondering what others are doing about this issue. Does anybody know if the cord part is a U.S. standard (Amazon.com : U.S. standard Power Cord For compatible devices, Replacement Power Cable for Gaming Systems and Other Electronic Devices, Brand New 6' 2-Pin Figure-8 Power Cord : Electronics) that could just be replaced with a longer cable? If not, how about adding an extension cord to it?

I have done the same thing. I had a 6 foot one around that I used.
