I just set up my replacement 520 and opted to have a password. I misunderstood what this is about and now to unlock the phone I can't just hit the power button, I have to enter a password. Where do I turn that off? TIA...

    Settings>lock screen.

    Scroll down.

    Password toggle.

Ah, I found it in google search -- Settings/Lock screen.

Interesting, if you forget your password you have to reset your phone! Another good reason to do backups!

Yep, wouldn't be much of a security device if it didn't force a reset, but yeah, backups lol. Always with the backups

Speaking of backups, I'm appalled at what I've seen. I made a backup the other day from my old phone (defective USB port), and restored that to replacement 520. I had to redo it, and that backup was no longer available. Plus, a backup from July was at first available, then wasn't, then it was. It's a total head scratcher what's going on with that.
