- fatclue_98Retired ModeratorThat was one reason I was actually pleased to get a refund in lieu of the install. Installers make more the faster they can finish. They aren't inclined to fine tune the legs/wheels to get everything level and plumb.
Would you have a link, name, or brand for those side mounting brackets for future reference? I searched before installing and didn't see anything different than a variation of the ones that came with the unit which you break half off to use for side mounting. The hard part is not dropping screws into a never-never land while blindly hunting for the pilot hole. Not picturing an alternative that avoids that. I thought about bolting from the other side of the cabinet wall but was too lazy to track down what I needed. Would be easy as pie to stick a bolt thru a visible hole from the other side and pretty impossible to lose the nut with a magnetic nut driver. Of course some might not want holes or bolt heads (even recessed ones) inside their cabinets.
Not overly impressed with some of the manufacturer's engineering. The releases for the oddly shaped covers for the holes used to install the screws are operated from the outside of the dishwasher before installation. That means you can't remove the dishwasher without destroying those oddly shaped covers to get to the screws. Any odds on how easy/cheap/possible it would be to get replacements?
Good luck.- Share

- The installation instructions should have a section for optional/replacement parts. Then again I see consumer docs are different than those included in builder packs. If your tub is completely plastic you need to install brackets. If you have a model with a vertical steel rail along the front edge (inside the tub) then you can screw it into the cabinet from the inside of the dishwasher. Don't forget to put a dab of caulk before driving the screw though. Some folks use a tiny o-ring but in my experience hot water and the drying cycle tends to expand o-rings over time rendering them 3 sizes larger than when they were new.
Good luck.- Share

- fatclue_98Retired ModeratorHmm.. I had wondered for a moment how I was going to secure my dishwasher when the granite countertop gets installed.. I'm not getting the new appliances for a while, so I have to secure this old one somehow until then. Plastic tub, nothing on the sides to attach a bracket to. May have to get creative.

- Ask your granite top installer to install wood blocks on the underside of the top. He'll know what I'm talking about. Worst case scenario, he can core-drill two small holes and epoxy some 1/4" anchors. This is all assuming you're getting typical 1-3/8" thick tops. If you're getting the new-fangled 1/2" thick tops that simulate quartz then you have to put some form of brackets. Good luck.

- HeyCoriMod EmeritusChristmas swag. Logitech Ergo M575 bluetooth trackball mouse. Should make for a solid replacement to my Logitech M570. It's essentially the same mouse difference being the 575 has bluetooth so I can drop the dongle and get back one of my USB ports. Plus I can (probably) use the M570 on the Raspberry Pi 400 that I got my girl.

- Somehow and at some time, we were tricked into buying a Sunbeam brand shoe rack that would spontaneously disassemble if you bumped it or looked at it funny. Flimsy aluminum tubes that just stuck into holes in plastic end plates only slightly more viscous than silly putty. Browsing Costco, spotted a wood replacement.
Joke of a rack:
Decent replacement:

- The Chinese sellers on eBay are getting really creative to get around the free shipping to USA. I am guessing the USA-China trade relations are at an all time low and I guess if you buy something from China you have to pay a fee (some sellers on Walmart.com charge that). So this case came to me from Kazakhastan. It went from China to Kazakhstan to USA.
The other cases for the S20 FE 5G came from UAE. One other item came to me from Singapore Post. I am going to see how many different countries I get products from when shipped from China to USA.
Also this is probably the reason why the 99c cases have dried up on eBay. These all cost me anywhere from $2.80 to $3.30.- Share

- I needed a third backup for my audiobooks. Lost them last year because of never naming volume and accidentally tried to install a linux iso on an external drive. Got the following for 57 bucks at the local Walmart. I am still amazed at the prices of drives. I remember the first harddrive I purchased was 20megs and cost almost 300 bucks for my top of the line 8086 amstrad computer.

Prices for spinning or solid state are excellent these days.
I picked up a 14TB external WD at Best Buy for $199 recently (Thanks WC for the heads up). The drive in it is supposedly helium filled. I have it attached to an HTPC and am moving the contents of three 4TB internal drives to it. I may eventually pull it from the case and install it in the HTPC to save space and power and use the 4TBs for off-site backups. Right now the backups are a real kludge using lots of little retired HDs that almost fill a large suitcase with some padding between each one. LoLLast edited by HoosierDaddy; 01-07-2021 at 06:53 PM.

- When helping my sister confirm her iPhone wasn't still locked on AT&T before adding her to my T-Mobile account, I saw they made it way more difficult if you weren't a current AT&T customer. Was a breeze back in the day when I was giving away AT&T L640s that I paid $10 each for after incentives to make WM converts.

- A new borescope that links to my phone. my old Harbor Freight one works fine, but has a large camera module, so can't fit into very small openings, and a tiny screen. With this, I can rotate the picture on my phone to keep the orientation correct, and also snap photos. It's not something I need often, but it is very useful when you need it.
