Question about keyboard shortcuts

Just got a new Lumia 920. I switched over from a pre 3. One thing I really enjoyed was the editable dictionary, or rather the keyboard shortcuts. What I want to be able to do in WP8 is edit a list so that when I type 'u,' 'you' is is what is displayed. Can I type the full word? sure I can. But I'm lazy. And I've been typing 'u' for years now and not looking like a 13 year old girl.

And, on an unrelated topic, is there any way to change the theme of the messaging app from the main theme of the phone? I want a white background in messaging but a black background everywhere else.

I have the same question about shortcuts. I am used to typing "bk" for bookkeeping, "m" for meeting, and just about every letter of the alphabet is short for something. Where is that editable list in the Lumia 920? Since no one has answered your question in such a long time, I'm getting a bad feeling about this...
