Microsoft Account Sync

Hello
I own a WP8 and I was just wondering how often, by default, Microsoft Account, the main account of the phone, (personally I have a @outlook.com address) syncs itself and downloads new content.
So what's the default setting (as items arrive, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour)?
And if I set it "push" (as items arrive), I will or will not have more battery consumption?
In addition to mails, what other stuff is synced and downloaded?

Thank you .

If you generally have good signal, "as items arrive" is more battery efficient.

Technically, "as items arrive" isn't a push. Instead, the phone makes a connection to the mail server and asks to be told when the mailbox changes -- the server simply doesn't reply until something happens. This "hanging around waiting" does not consume battery. When something does happen, the server answers, and that lets the phone know to login and pull down the changes. If you signal is bad, the connection will drop and the phone will need to reconnect to ask the server to let it know when things change. That reconnection will use battery power.

I have three Exchange accounts on different servers and all are set to "as items arrive." One of them gets virtually no mail, another gets about 200 pieces a day, focused on the extended workday, the other gets 1-5 items a day. I leave Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS on all the time. As long as I don't game (which sucks battery life), I can easily make it through the day (6am-11pm).

Thank you. A very exhaustive answer!
I was thinking pretty the same. I guess if you get a massive amount of mails then is better not setting "push".
But the other thing I wanna know is what's the default setting in "Microsoft Account", the main account in the phone, set by Windows Phone.

And which WP8 phone do you have?
I have a Lumia 620. Little jewel.
