Hi guys,

Given the scenario that your phone contract will be up in this year end, which phone do you imagine yourself getting?
... or staying with 1020?

Why the choice?

I'm interested to know because I find the 4.5" screen on 1020 to be quite packed, hoping for a screen upgrade and dreaming for IR blaster on WP. No other complains, speed is amazing.
But I'm torn between the 20mp camera on 5" 930 / 6" 1520 and 41mp 1020. Hope that your inputs will give me more consideration perspective.

Just got a 1520 recently. Keeping my 1020 as a vacation phone/camera.

1520 is through ATT Next, so I have to return it. Wanna keep it safe. :p

There will be several new phones out this year. There hasn't been much info released on them as far as I know, but they are sure to have some new sensors and hardware that will be required to enable some of the new features in WP8.1. if I was shopping for a new phone late this year, I'd be inclined to get one of the models that will be released in the next six months.

If you're a camera nut you've got to have a 1020. If you want a FullHD display and greater processor speed, and still get an excellent camera, then the 1520 or 930, depending on whether you want a big'un or a littl'un. You may prefer LCD display to OLED for possible longevity reasons.

930 is not it, battery is too small and cam is less. I would like a 1025/1030 with better specs than the 930 (bigger battery, better soc) and an improved 41mp camera.

Only a better 1020 would make me change, and the only obviously enticing improvement would be a 64GB one. I'd even trade up for a current model 64. Otherwise, I'm happily set.

A 1020 variant with atleast a microSD slot for those great high resolution pics and videos, now that 8.1 supports installing apps to sd, even releasing a model with 8gb onboard wont matter, imagine a 128gb sd card with all your apps, music and most importantly...enough space for those beautiful high resolution pics 😍

Currently the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact has my attention. I really like my 1020 but it?s to large for me. I never had a problem to use my mobile phone with one hand when i still had my Lumia 800 and i miss the small size of this handset. Due to the recent development in Nokias portfolio – bigger is better – I highly doubt that the 1020s successor is a smaller device. So my only option is to look else where :-(

There is still hope that a 820 successor is a small device with the same 20mp camera that the 930 is rocking :)

Cheers,
Tom

The only current phone is the 1520. And I'll tell you why. Xbox Music is so bad I started storing my music on the device so a SD slot for expanded storage is a must + I would need internal 64GB for all the apps and games.

For my case, none of the current models interest me. 930 camera is a step backward imo although it has a better screen. If 930 comes with an ext sd slot, I may have considered it. But without the capability of glance support, is a big no. Guess I will stay with 1020 till the next successor appears.

This, thanks for point out the flaws of 930. No mSD aside, lack of glance is really the deal breaker for me. I'd rather stay with my 1020 than going to 930 now.

I'm a very happy 1020 user (my personal device) and at the moment I wasn't really thinking of a change. But my boss wants to buy me a new phone for business use, so I tried choosing 1520, but it's unavailable with my carrier. Since this is going to be my secondary device (for work) I can now choose between 1020, 925, 630 and 520. Should I pick one of those or maybe get an iPhone just for some new experience sake? I cannot really see the purpose of having two 1020 except the cool factor, and others are inferior devices and therefore uninteresting. Help :-)

If I upgraded today, the S5. That figuratively kills me as I truly hate Google.

I love my 1020. The camera is second to none but WP is some way behind in many other areas. The OS is smooth and efficient enough but I long for the day when I see a new app or game that is directed at WP devices. It just doesn't happen. My bank has apparently been working on a WP app for over 15 months now but after repeated requests, they are unable to tell me when it will be released. They already have an Android and iOS app.

I have 6 months left on my current service contract, which was for the 920 (I purchased my 1020 via O2 then unlocked) and if things don't improve in that time, I will jump ship.

I'm a little fed up with compromising for my needs. I stuck with Symbian for years through misguided loyalty and the need for decent camera phones (N95, N8 and 808) and I don't want to get stuck in the same situation with WP.

The S5 may not stack up against the 1020's camera but it pisses on it in every other comparison.

My next phone after the Lumia 1020 will be its successor.
