What is this rattling about 920 being better than 640XL? Have you even read specs? 640XL has clear black screen, has Carl Zeiss optics, and has HD screen. Gaming? Dual core 920? Really? It seems that 920 owners aren't ready to accept that their phone is outdated. By the way, Nokia 5800 XpressMusic also has Carl Zeiss. So why they even bothered making new phones!?!! Get serious, please.
With or against keeping my L920?You are throwing paper specifications. HD, Zeiss, ClearBlack, etc........
Lumia 920 has a technically superior screen. Viewing angles, color gamut reproduction, and backlight brightness are better on the Lumia 920.
Bottom line is the Lumia 920 was engineered to be a flagship, which just so happens to be one of the best damn phones that ever existed. The Lumia 640XL is engineered to be a cheap, "flagship like" experience which will not live up to the 920. You might get a couple of whistles, but all the bells are on the 920.
Just my two cents ...
With or against keeping my L920??
With or against keeping my L920?![]()
Keep it!
920 is a great phone, wish they had a T-Mobile compatible variant that was reasonably priced. Ended up selling 920 and getting 925, and was pretty disappointed
FWIW I just upgraded to 1520. Camera is better, but damn this phone has some compromises.
Not built as good as the 920, and the distance between glass and LCD is too small. Speakers is better on the 920, especially for music.
Why can't Microsoft take the L920 design, stick a higher resolution panel, more efficient/faster SoC, and an upgraded camera? FFS Microsoft
What were you disappointed about your 925? The 6 element lens and heat? Just curious.
i want to keep my 920, but with no supply of 3rd party verified batteries with a manufacture date in the last year, I really need an upgrade.
I thought I could hold out for the 940, but need an in between phone (with dual sim), and the 640xl is looking like the one
Wat about the 928, other than being stuck on HSpa+ , its improved over the 920 without any drawbacks.. has xenon flash, slimmer build, and an amoled display..
Handset and loudspeakers are noticeably worse in quality. If you're on a carrier other than Verizon you might have issues sending and receiving messages with hspa enabled :/
Overall the 928 is a solid choice, especially with the xenon flash perk. Just the cellular hiccups may not be worth the $avings
Then wat about the 1020?
41 megapixels, 32gigs of storage, and an amoled display... The camera has to be somewhat faster if u use the default Cam app, and are running denim right? ( I don't know this for sure, just a theory)
1020 is a great phone too. The problem is merely with processing, and that's not going to change. The DSP on the Qualcomm S4 SoC sucks, and I highly doubt it was meant to handle 41MP RAW.
We don't have a 1020 successor yet because Qualcomm still sucks in this department xD
I think default camera app will save 5MP images only, so it will likely be faster.
AT&T unlock codes are dirt cheap for Lumias at the moment ($1.30), so that may be a consideration as well.
RIP Nokia 808
I'd been hoping that our upcoming two flagships would feature 41 megapixel cams, and due to better processors, actually be able to handle them, but as it appears we are only going to be getting about 24 megs, but that's s to still great too. .megapixels aren't everything, and I'm sure those 24 mgpxl shooters will blow the competition away anyhow.. I mean the iPhone 6 camera doesn't even beat the 925 or 928 and those are 2013 devices
The iPhone 6 has a pretty nice camera. Maybe in lowlight the 925 would win, but my intuitions are against the 925.
If only Crapple would put OIS in the 6 and 6 plus.. Can't believe they skimp on features with their ludicrous prices
Edit: 6 plus has OIS
It support wireless charging, but needs its slide to work.
And it supports glance.
