830 way too expensive...WHY ?!

When I got my 820, the street price increase to the 920 was €170. For a slightly bigger better screen and Pureview (ok, and Qi). Now the jump between 730 and 830 is less, and the price jump is also less, and both of them are less expensive at launch than the 720 and 820 were, and you guys are pulling comparison between the 830 at recommended retail and a frankly imaginary street price of €400 for the 1520 - an €800 phone!! - which doesn't make any sense - and complaining the 830 is too expensive! For a start the resellers offering you a 1520 at €400 are for sure not going to ask you to pay recommended retail for an 830!

330$ or 300? with taxes already included, yes, that would be the correct price !

1520 is a old phone, fact is the 830 wil be in stores overpriced for many months, maybe 6 or more before the price drops into realistc regions...not MS fantasy price-tags

Wait... Moto G... The 3G phone with a crappy display, bigger chassie, support for only 32Gb of expandable memory, no dolby enhancements, no nfc, worthless camera, no image stabilization, 720p video recordings, ANDROID..., the oldest snapdragon 400 chipset out there and as usual... Worthless battery life (it's running Android)...

You're really comparing the above phone with the Lumia 830 and think they should be the same price?

Not the same but the 830 should be 100? more expensive...not 200? !!
Also some of your points are totally wrong, iam talking about the new MOTO G (2014) !
And some other points like "Worthless battery life (it's running Android)..." are just bu11sh1*, sorry

I have been a 820 owner for the past year and a half and I really like the phone a great deal. I got tired of waiting for the cyan/8.1 update for my 820 and went an bought a Moto G LTE for 209$ from Amazon.( was going to use it as my backup phone)/ The G has a great screen, very good battery life, and is very quick. It is a very nice really affordable phone. In fact aside from the middle ground camera its a great phone. I got the cyan/8.1 upgrade two days after I bought the Moto G. Now I can't decide if I want to upgrade to the 830. It has the same processor as my Moto G and cost twice as much. Trouble is while the 830 sounds nice I don't see it as the FLAGSHIP device it was being pushed as. It has the same resolution screen as the Moto also. I think I am going to wait until a real FLAGSHIP device comes out from Microsoft/Nokia. If it doesn't then I'll stick with the 820 (still a great phone) and the Moto G LTE.

The pricing will be very interesting.
My carrier has the 930 at $10 more for a 1GB data plan and $5 more for a 2GB data plan over the 635.
Not much room for the 830.
Its gonna have to be priced at 635 level to make it competitive against the 930.

Brazil:
Lumia 930 = 660 dollars (With Brazil taxes)
Lumia 830 = 424 dollars (No Brazil taxes yet!)
New Moto G = 300 dollars (With Brazil taxes)

Doing the sums, the 830 should get on average 600 dollares here.
Yes, Brazil imposes heavy taxes (and manufacturers abuse even more)

New Moto X reached $170 less than the 930.
And $500 less iPhone 5s.
$550 less Note 3.

Theres a very simple reason for the price.

Only the suckers will buy it and start spouting that 'you can wait forever for a leading phone' the facts are the facts though.

Microsoft's resources and future in terms of mobile devices is firmly geared towards Windows 9. The restructure has not finished at MS/Nokia integration so everything we see before 9 devices are from the road map of Nokia of old. Money has been invested already and they are recouping as much as possible, advice is just don't buy it. Old technology i todays environment will mean a very short support life and frustration in 6 to 12 months. Look at the 1020, I have a 1020, amazing camera yes, old internals even when it was released and this has meant that support has finished fast and the new updates - Lumia Camera - will not have all features enabled due to hardware limitations, and this on the flagship camera device!

Its a joke, im going sim only and buying the new iPhone which I will sell the day MS come out with Windows 9 devices. Im all for MS but anything and everything released prior to 9 are just a waste of money IF you go on contract, if not then you can always sell the phone.

Definitely I also don't want to be burnt like wp 7.8 user.it is better to buy wp9 device.i will use my Lumia 820 with power bank nd extra batteries.

From Windows phone

I'm actually comparing to the Moto G 2014... And about battery life... WP gives better battery life on the same hardware.

So we know the 830 will hit the stores for just under 400?, thats way to much.
What do you think, why is it that expensive although the new Moto G with the same specs is 200? (!!) cheaper ?
OIS...Pureview...but thats not 200? !

Whats Nokia/MS strategy with this device, i dont know...at this price it will not sell.

Well, it depends what you compare it with. I mean, Lumia 830 has, in Europe, the same price (at launch!) as iPhone 5c, and the Lumia's hardware is FAR better. In this post you can see a comparison table: Lumia 830 vs. iPhone 5c: batalla por la gama media. - Cuatro ventanas . It is in Spanish, but I think that the table can be easily understood, mostly (the last 4 are, wireless charging, supersensitive touch, user accesible battery and changeable back cover). Green color highlight the "winner" in each feature. Spoiler alert: iPhone 5c wins only 1 out of 12. :-D

So please use your brains and then crib about a phone which is targeted at a population who want flagship quality device and can't really go all out with that. There will be ups and downs and I can happily live with that fact. The 830 is the perfect WP for me at the moment.

You think 26K is justified and will be accepted by ppl not wanting a flagship? dont compare with Iphone5c/5s compare with nexus 5, what do u think? 720 was successful at 16-17K price point but things are different now, ppl have motog's and xiamoi mi3's, u cant ignore competition, 730 should be 14k and 830 20k not more than that.

Not possible, recently 830 launched in Vietnam, after conversion, it was around ₹24k. Even if India is lucky, 830 would come for ₹22-23k, definitely not less than that & 730 for ₹16-17k. Many people are waiting here to upgrade their 520, 620, 720, 820, 920. So they'll buy 830/730.
