920 is way faster with the old Tile scaling size.

Haven't noticed any lag on my L920 with three tiles, then again I don't have much pinned to my start screen :P. It is silky smooth like the first day I got my phone almost two years ago. :winktongue:

I tried the three tile thing for all of five minutes. My eyes became really strained trying to look at all the small text on the tiles. Never again.

Also, the type of wallpaper you put as your start screen background makes a difference. Some will use up more RAM than others, and just an accent color uses up almost no RAM. For example, compare the same start screen with an accent color vs. a background. I bet you'll be able to see a difference!

Previously, I was using the 3column start screen on my Lumia 520. Sometimes, or most of the times, when I go to my start screen, the live tiles are blank, and need to rerender (don't know the right term to use xP). Then I saw this thread, and decided to change to 2 column screen. The first day, it was buttery smooth.

This is the second day, the same problem came back... Ah well, I think I'll try changing to non-wall-background and see the changes. I will post an update if anyone's interested. =)

After a reset I don't get any lag while scrolling the 3 columns.

This is my rule of thumb, if you need to reset for a simple change to be working, then there is an issue. When something major happens like an OS update or a firmware or a general change that affect the entire phone (like changing the region or language) then yes, a reboot or reset is needed an excused.

But with WP, each time we change a little something, the answer is "do a soft reset". That's not viable and that's not how software are supposed to run. But that's my opinion of course ;)

No, there's still rendering on two columns with background picture... Doesn't work xP. Back on three column
