920 now or wait for the next model?

You might as well pay cash for a Lumia 900 and test the waters. This is just my own personal opinion. The Lumia 900 can be had for probably $100-$150 and you won't be stuck with another contract. You can get the 7.8 update on the 900 which makes it similar to the 920. I have both the Lumia 900 and Lumia 920 and the 900 has a certain amount of charm to it that will allow you to see if the platform is really for you. Granted, the camera is inferior and a few apps won't work on WP7.8 but this is just my opinion.

Telling someone to just jump from an Android to a Windows Phone is a hard sell. It's like telling someone who drives a sports car to get a Prius. There are ALWAYS going to be trade-offs. Specs mean virtually nothing when it comes to the Windows Phone platform (this is highly arguable but it's been my experience thus far). The trade-off for me is that I work from home, I always have access to a computer so an Android is of absolutely no interest to me - the Lumia 920 provides me with one of the best cameras, fast social functions, an "in and out" operating system, and access to Xbox Live through my phone.

I'd wait for the next round of phones and for Nokias, I'd give them enough time in circulation to make sure you don't get "920'd".
