Hello Guys. I Am new to the Lumia Series. I Bought a 920 Just 3 weeks back and i am loving this phone! 2 Days ago my 920 fell from my vehicle when my friend was using it for photography! It fell in a road with the cover on and the cover bounced and the phone fell naked and thankfully the screen had no scratches! i was so happy that the phone was fine but when i reached home i saw that my polycarbonate shell was scratched pretty badly. Though it wasnt visible so much on visible light but at certain angles there were many scratches! and some deep scratches too! Now since my phone is in warranty is there any chance of getting it fixed/replaced? Or if they replace my shell how much it will cost? Im in Jaipur,India and i really dont know how the customer care service is here.

Scratches have hid all the beauty of the L920! I Just love this phone and want a new shell.
Thanks in advance :)

congrats on the 920, its a great phone, had one until i bought the 1020, as far as the the scratches go doubt they will replace under warranty, however, depending on how comfortable at doing it yourself you could buy the shell and change it yourself, there are quite a few videos on youtube that will walk you through the process if you feel you are comfortable doing it

Yeah i have seen them, the videos are complicated but i think i can do it. there is another problem. These shells i suppose arent available in my country(INDIA). So thats why this was out of the equation! Thanks For help. But what if they ask in warranty what should i tell them?? Some lie or something? I Know thats bad. i can even pay for the new shell just hoping it isnt too much. can u tell me the approx money ill need to replace it? Because im missing my scratch proof naked yellow 920 :(

you can get it changed from the Nokia Care.
my friend had a Lumia 720, he changed the white glossy finished cover to Cyan. but the SIM door does'nt change as the phones identity is printed on the sim door.
He got it done for 4-5k. I dunno how much it will cost for 920.

how badly is ur 920 damaged, coz i had a 920 it took loads of damaged still looked in mint condition.

I Tried To Click The Pictures of it but as i said it isnt that visible in normal light. in certain angles there are loads of scratches. Some deep scratches also! when u see in light or look closely.
Is there any chance of it getting replaced in warranty though?
4-5k? Local shops said it can be done for around 1-2k!
How was ur 920 damaged?
Screen has no prob only the shell.

if you look at this post you will find that the replacement of the shell at a Nokia Care Center will cost about 75 pounds. There are many more sellers on ebay now that sell the housing for between $25-40, but if you read the threads about changing the housing you'll find that often people are not happy with what they got on ebay. Here is my experience with a purchase of a housing from ebay (cost $30, time to change ~1h). Once you changed the housing once, you will find that it's fairly easy. First time is always a little scary, since you don't know exactly how things come apart or may break. I can say it's fairly easy.

Congrats on your 920. Using my 920 since day one of it's launch in India.
Well you can still use another cover like the original nokia 920 cover - CC1043 (available on flipkart) , so the scratches will be hidden and it will still look like a 920. You were anyways using a cover, so why not just use a cover?
If you absolutely want to change it, Nokia will change it for you but they would charge you definitely more than 5K for doing it. It would be better for you to buy the back panel and do it by yourself. It is pretty easy. I just recently opened the back panel of my phone to see how it looks. I know it sounds crazy, but I did it.
I don't know of any place in India where you can buy an ORIGINAL one. Too many fake ones on ebay, and recently heard some people on wpcentral claming to have to have got a fake back panel even though they were promised that it was original.
You can probably check out these sites:
Nokia Lumia 920 Replacement Parts
New Back Housing Cover Case Door Cover with Sim Tray for Nokia Lumia 920 | eBay (this one is original, coz some wpcentral member purchased from this site and said that it looked very much original)
Check out this for changing the back panel:

All the best!

Yeah. But those eBay products arent genuine right? How does the cover look btw? Just like the original? Anyway I can get it through warranty?

they are very likely genuine. Somebody in the other thread checked the #s in the case with Nokia and was told that they are Nokia. Genuine doesn't mean they are pristine though. Mine looks just like the original. Could not tell the difference between mine and store product. If you want to use warranty then you have to switch back to original housing, worked for me, ymmv though.

Just changed mine to red (after changing from black to yellow). Got this from ebay including charging coil (justinpartsnc located in the US). This is a genuine housing. The seller added note that parts inside are pulled from L920s. looks like the real deal for $25.
