I have huge battery drain issues also. I have reset my 950 to stock and will have to see how it goes. I have a feeling its the battery thats defective not the phone. The problem is that microsoft doesn't sell extra batteries yet.

Has anyone tried removing the battery out of the phone for sometime and do a power reset and put it back in. It works for me most of the time on my L730. Sometimes after heavy usage of phone and then charging right away can cause improper setting of battery thresholds by w10m or wp8.1. This is what I observed.

After a few days of the new phone, I can definitely say two things.

1) Battery life is much improved, especially when the phone is not in use
2) Battery life is still not great. Seems really odd how much of the battery goes to display. I am getting a full day off a charge now, though.

I've turned on preview build access to get the latest update, but I don't think this build (10586.29) was addressing any battery issues. I'll continue to track any progress I make.

Too early to tell for sure, but it looks like the Insider Preview build could be doing good stuff for battery life.

After installing the first update, the phone got extremely hot for a couple hours and drained the battery super quick, then said that I had another update to install. I did the second update and charged my phone to full.

So far I've used it to listen to an hour long podcast over the speaker and sent a dozen texts or so. It's been unplugged for 10 hours and I'm sitting at 83%. I can definitely live with that.

I have a 950 that I purchased on Nov. 21. The battery life has now gotten worse. I've got my phone set to a normal configuration - most apps not allowed to run in the background, etc. Monkeying with the cellular seems ridiculous - I've never had to do that in the past. Anyway, the drain is bad that a full night on my wireless charger only got it up to 68%. Limited use in the morning and it had drained 30% in 3 hours, so that I was down to roughly 35%. When I check battery usage, it shows Edge as the worst offender. After I check details on Edge, it disappears from the battery saver list altogether, until the next time I open it. Battery saver app is itself clearly buggy. But Edge seems to be the main problem, even when I totally close it. Also, needing to completely close apps seems unnecessary, as my HTC One M8 didn't require that.

This seems to be something that Microsoft needs to fix, and asap. My phone is essentially unusable if it can't hold a charge for 3/4 of a day. I otherwise love it, but this is a threshold issue.

Have you gotten the update to 10586.29 yet? (Or is your device one of the lucky ones that has a problem and isn't currently getting it?) The battery life on my 950 seems way better with it.

if you have enabled more live tiles and set text size to less than its recommended, just switch as it used to be, and it will be alright...this is what helped me

I had the same issue back in the day with a Samsung focus and then again with a Lumia 928 I had. The battery life is atrocious and sad to see my 1520 still at over 95% being charged 3 days ago while 7 hours into my day has the battery on the 950 already at less than 20%, having done nothing more than check my email and send a few SMS

I have an unlocked Lumia 950 dual SIM in the US on AT&T. Insider running .36. Still waiting for firmware. 64GB microSD. Paired with Band 2.

Lately, without any new apps or changes, I've had the phone lock up on the settings app for at least 60sec; windows hello crashed and the red light stayed on after quick accessing the camera from a locked screen; 5GHz WiFi drops and requires a soft reset
I was managing until Xmas when the phone restarted while on Skype.

Today, within 3 hours taking 6 photos and sending 5 mms, checking weather once and reading the news for about 20mins, my phone was at 72%. After Skype for 12 min, it was down to 58%. By 5h just sitting in my pocket, I'm at 36%.

Battery life is getting worse for me. I'm getting desperate. I almost tossed the phone when I had a family emergency and the phone restarted while on a call. Waiting and hoping Firmware fixes this. If not, I suppose I'll try swapping the device for a new one. The frustrating opacity of microsoft's firmware "rollout" and no useful technical support to address these issues tests my Enthusiast commitment.
