I lucked out and picked up a camera grip for free from a camera chain that was closing up. Went to the mall, asked if they had any....the manager comes back and lays one on the counter and says have a good day....we were throwing it out! WOOT!

I had been considering the Nokia PD-95G BLACK PD-95G Camera Grip available here:

A little worried about buying based on the reviews reporting failures.

Also is there a good recommendation out there for an easy to use manageable (smaller in size) Steadicam rig for smartphones in general?

Don't pay much for it (like more than $35 max) because I've had two go bad from charging socket problems. First one after 8 months, second after 3 months of use. I wrote the first one off as maybe I was rough with the cable attaching or something, but the second one I was extremely careful with. I think the issue is bad solder joints on the circuit board at the socket.

Decided not to risk buying the grip because of the failures reported by others.
I just carry a good quality portable charger if I think the battery won't make it.
