- At the usual command prompt, this message:

- "This command required administrative privileges and must be executed from an elevated command prompt.

- I am the sole user of this PC and already have administration privileges.

- Why does the command prompt not already recognize that?

- So how do I get to the elevated command prompt?

Thank you / appreciated.

Command prompt, when run normally, will not automatically be escalated to Administrator privileges. Running apps (specifically terminal) in elevated/administrator mode can cause a lot of havoc if you accidentally run something you didn't mean to (a malicious software/script for example), thus its not opened with administrator rights by default.

To make it run with administrator privileges, you can use any one of the following methods;

Method 1) Right-click on command prompt application, and then select "run as administrator"
Method 2) Press Win + R and type in cmd. Now press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER, and you'll open that in elevated.
