I got this error, all I did was keep pressing update after I saw the error. It downloaded the firmware about 5 times before it finally installed. Now I'm running Nokia Black!

well you wont get Tmo LTE, you at best can get HSPA+

Didn't work for me the first time but then I waited a few hours and then it worked. Lumia 920 unlocked/unbranded in Sweden. Not too impressed by this update tho, feels like nothing's different except the app switcher X.

Ok guys, my carrier is "Sw variant Adriatic CV", and I'm from Bosnia and Herzegovina (ako ima sunarodnjaka da ih informi?em ) and the update is available now !!! I'll download it tomorrow, and see if it shows those error messages... I'm backuping all of my music, photos and videos just in case

If you get a "update downloaded but cannot be opened" error (happens a lot on the 920's), that means your phone/carrier/region combination does not have the update yet and your phone just downloaded an update before learning that. You must wait few days and it should appear for you and download correctly.

Of course you'll want to check to make sure your date/time settings are correct, do a soft reset and try again before waiting those few days.

Everything is OK now. Fix for the issue Update was downloaded but could not be opened (80188309) seems to be applied. Black update went seamlessly now.

Just got Black on my 920 that is an India phone, but I'm currently living in the US. I think your location doesn't matter. It's more about whether your phone type has rolled out or not. My device is dev unlocked because I'm enrolled in the WP dev program. FYI.
