Silent Void is minimalism with design and art. I want to make a tower defense game with meaningful mechanics and bigger strategy core. And story. Story that will serve the game. For now, in its alpha stage it's rather simple, unpolished. But it's growing out to be a really cool experience, each day.

* Please note that currently, my main focus is feature and gameplay mechanics development. Visuals may not represent the final look and atmosphere of the game. I am still looking for that perfect art style. Screenshots are from March 2015.

As I said, the game is alpha. Yes, that means that you will encounter bugs, crashes and a lot of stuff not implemented. But if you can handle that and be with the game until it goes at least beta or public I would be so happy to have you as a tester. Also, when the game goes public, you will get a free version and (if you want) a place in the credits.

I will also use this thread as a dev-log, and report the dev progress as often as I can.

Alpha/beta testing will start Friday 19th 2014. The game is published as hidden and you only need to open the Store link on your device when it becomes available.

Implemented
- 4 towers with different abilities (for example with Iris tower, you can move its vision across the map)
- 6 enemies (EACH has its own mechanic that will challenge you as a player)
- 4 type of tiles with different "powers" (for example, if you place Silent Void tower on a grass tile, his bullet power and vision will increase)
- Random mode (play a randomly generated map)
- Random mode options (difficulty, map size, wave count or you can leave all random)

To do
- Game Over menu (yes, I still don't have time to do this one) :smile:
- New map generation algorithm (already works but I need to make some tweaks and fix the bugs)
- Polish
- Level editor
- Story mode
First "public" version of the game will ship with two episodes and each episode will have at least 5 maps. After that, each month I will update the game with one new episode. This game will have 10 episodes.
- More towers, enemy and tile types
- Localization
- Optimize

P.S. There is this enemy in the game called RandomFocus. My friends seem to hate that enemy type. RandomFocus, when spawned will "decide" to select one of the towers you placed, mount on it, take control and shoot nearby towers (limited time).

Working on in-game level editor for SV. Also a lot of improvements (including new map generation system) and optimizations done.

P.S. I do have an older version in the Store, but I kinda don't want people to try it. :)
 
Sorry guys. WP8 device isn't with me these days, but I should get it back soon (probably next week). Without it I can't test some WP8 specific stuff.


These days I am working on a dialog system for the game that I will use for tutorials, storytelling etc.
Also I did some improvements with the gameplay part and managed to implement google play services in WP8. For now I just managed to retrieve a list of leaderboards and get to the google+ sign in screen. As soon as I get the device back I will continue working on the Google Play integration.
In-game level editor now supports try option to playtest your custom-made level.

There is lot to do and I like that fact. :)

Finally got a WP8 device. That means I can continue working on WP8 specific stuff and also prepare an update. So, you will get the alpha link VERY soon. :)

Right now I am working on Google Play services integration with G+ login, leaderboards etc. After that I plan on adding OneDrive game data backup option.

Things are going pretty smooth with the Google Play and OneDrive integration. So far the basics work.

I am spending a couple of days to polish some features and base mechanics in the game. I am also experimenting with the art style, not really satisfied with the way it looks right now.

One of the best moments this month was when I managed to go from 400 draw calls in the game (each tile is using a separate texture) to 33 (sprite sheets).

Yes I am still working on it, every day. Currently my main focus is the story mode in the game and it takes more time than I initially planned. Also there are features I already did, but they are not polished. But yeah, I will send the link as soon as the game is ready for testing. :)
 
Thanks again for your kind words. Please, don't expect anything big. :) After all it's just me working on this game and my friend composing music.

But I think this game will be a cool addon for the Store, since I noticed a general lack of polished TD games for WP8 considering what other stores offer.
 
First version for testing will be available Friday, 24th. Expect the PM with details that day. Again, thanks to everyone interested.
For now, I only need the ones who applied already in the previous posts.
