Its post like this one that often right the ship;

http://forums.windowscentral.com/1690231-post45.htm

You will find that the silent majority of people on the forums support what we do. If the vocal minority has room to post they will soon show themselves for who they are. When the same 5 or 10 people keep wining in threads about the same BS the community will react to them.

I draw a hard line on complaining and wining threads where a forums member takes a moderator like tone with the community or the mod team. I will close these threads the minute I see them. Most of the time they devolve into a mess and require a bunch of moderator involvement to stay open. In the end they wind up being closed without every providing any good forums content. When someone complains about the Moderator Team or the rules I am inclined to leave it opened depending on the circumstances of the discussion. Again these threads need a bunch of moderator involvement but in the end they will turn in our favor its simple the numbers are on our side. If you see a thread you want to monitor and keep open post in here and let us know otherwise I just might close it.

I've been itching to close that thread as I felt the discussion was sufficient on the matter it concerned. But I'll leave it alone after seeing this post.

The best way to smoke out the trouble makers and let them rat themselves out to the community is to give them a place to vent. It becomes necessary every once in a while but can become detrimental to the community if it happens too often.
