My surface rt is pretty much unusable. It always reads 100% disc space but nothing in particular is filling it up. I disabled super fetch and it worked good for less than a day and now its back to boo boo. No apps open up and internet explorer is crippled. Anyone had the same issue? I figure I should hard reset the badboy but I don't want to go that route unless I have to.

Have you tried using the "Disk Cleanup" program?

Desktop, Control panel, Administrative Tools, Disk Cleanup.

After it opens, select "Clean up System files", it will reload, then check EVERYTHING on the list. Click Ok, and go for a walk or something, as it will take a while. If this doesn't work in the end, you'll have to do a reset (after you backup all your personal files).

I def tried the disc cleanup and that didnt help. So im now trying to save all my files to a usb drive so i can do a hard reset. wish there was an easy way to go about it without having to delete anything but oh wells, i guess its time to start fresh. Thanks for the help

I had a similar problem on a Nokia 2520. It was caused by file history being turned on and it tried to duplicate all of the files in my libraries. This ended up using all available space on my internal and external storage.

I've encountered this problem when I was using the Windows 8.1 Preview on my laptop. When it happened for the first time, I reinstalled the entire OS. After a few days, it happened again. I tried to recall everything I did right before it started happening, and undo them. Turns out, the 100% disk usage started after I had changed the background on the start screen. Went back to normal when I used the default background (with the fish).

I don't know if this sounds believable, but I swear this is what happened with me.
