anyone in the U.S. been updated to 7.8 on ATT yet without "trick?"

I'd rather wait for an official update than use 3rd party tools. I want a phone that works when I need it, not a test system. Although the laggy tiles are pretty annoying.

The 3rd party tools update your phone to the official version.

Minus the updated firmware....which is what I keep repeating. The updated firmware does make a difference in this case.

In the AT&T community forum the thread on Windows Phone 7.8 update has over 26,000 views

Just got the 7.10.8862.142 and 144 updates this morning (AT&T), through the official update. That took a while...

I just received notification (15:30 Central/IL) on my phone and through Zune for my locked AT&T Lumia 900.
Downloading/installing 7.10.8860.142 now!

Edit: 7.10.8862.144 coming down now.

I am also updating an AT&T Lumia 900 right now with no tricks... First update 7.10.8783.12 in progress.

Done via Mac WP Connector. Took long enough but looks good so far. Up to "7.10.8862.144" finally. Bluetooth seems to be working on mine Orlok.

So i've got an odd one after the latest update on my 900. The internal mic and speaker don't work during phone calls. If I switch to speakerphone mode, both sides of the conversation are as normal. Anyone received a call yet and noticed this?

I must say. My live tiles seem alot clearer now, before sometimes in 8858 they would sometimes get "blurry" but now they look more clear overall. My tiles open faster now too. Not quite as fast as 7.5 but quicker then 8858.

WOW.
So I did the update through Zune, and there is one feature that is unbelievable......I have an unlocked 900 from ATT using it on T-Mobile, and after this firmware update the INTERNET SHARING is working on T-Mobile!!!! Man I am glad I have not given up my unlimited web access (grandfathered plan $10 a months for unlimited un-throttled 4G, well HSDPA+).
