Picked up a Surface RT on Black Friday, haven't opened the box yet. I already have a Surface Pro 2 and a gaming PC. Having trouble deciding what to use the RT model for. I like that its thinner and lighter, but should I open the box? Let me know how you all use your combination.

One plus the original RT has that no one talks about is it's repairable. You can actually pull it apart mostly with a screw driver to say replace the battery some day?

I have the original Surface Pro but picked up a 'Black Friday' Surface RT special for a friend and decided to test it and install apps before giving it. It needed all the updates downloaded/installed including firmware and Windows 8.1 but once that was done, it ran far better than I expected. In fact, I was quite impressed with it and surprised by the number of poor reviews.
It's definitely thinner and lighter than the Pro but not to the extent that I would have a second machine for that reason. The only consideration I think is it would be a good machine to carry around instead of the $1000 Surface Pro 2. For $200 you have almost everything you need and you can set up remote desktop if you want to access something at home and if you happen to break or lose it, it's not as big of a crisis as if you lost the Pro.

it comes to me that if u have a pro already ,there is no need to have another portable device--RT.
reasons re as follow:
1,There re too many things that pro can't replaced by rt
2,it seems that rt run many things very fast but there are lots of shortcomings such as the ie will often break down
3,when it comes to office.if u are a deep user of it. u will find it works slow and lake some functions ,add in marco, for example.
4,its display isn't so good as pro meaning that u won't get a better experence than pro
5,rt do not have a time writer, means that when u taking notes or painting something .its performance isn't like the pro
in brief.had u have pro and short of money, surface rt would be a good choice.but according to ur situation.i consider u'd better .......
sorry, that's only my own opinion about it and this is my first time post a reply in english cus i'm a chinese guy.So if there is anything that offens u. pls forgive me.
All in all . it depends on urself.:orly: (@-@)...
