Ok, converted an AOL user to windows phone 7 about two years ago. Set up AOL for him and it synced the contacts AND mail.

Just converted another AOL user to a Lumia 925. Mail syncs with no problem, but no contacts. In fact, Settings doesn't even give the option to check off contacts and calendar. Any advice?

Export AOL contacts to .csv file and import to outlook.com via web (People section). Not sure how you synced contacts before via AOL, POP email doesn't support contact management so it would be separate as far as I know.

Will have him try this tomorrow. Dunno how but the Lumia 900 brought over the contacts and they were all accessible to email on his phone. Thanks for a response that didn't include suggesting abandoning AOL, after all, he hears it from me enough

For anyone else who has this problem, AOL will not let you export contacts via their desktop software. AOL users need to log in to AOL.com in order to export contacts.

CSV file must be properly formatted using correct headers for import via outlook.com

Dunno which is a bigger abomination to the internet that won't go away. IE6 or AOL
