Are high score league tables worth it?

Hi,

I'm currently working my way through my first WP game. It's in in beta testing and there's an opportunity to add a few more bells and whistles.

One of the things I'm considering is to add a remote high score league table. Personally I don't bother with league tables, so I was wondering if that's just me or are they a waste of dev effort?

Opinions welcome

I don't have the answer, and debate this myself after releasing a game with an 'online leaderboard' while getting another ready to submit. Here's the two sides, as I see it:

PRO: People do like them. I'm confident (given the data on my first game) that some people play more....obsessively so.....just to get on the boards.

CON: It jacks up the age rating and can increase the hassle getting a game approved. Even a simple puzzle game has to be restricted to 12 or 14+ (or is it 18+?), just because scores are shared online.
