Are you using screen protectors?

Your the second person to refer to the 1520.3 . What is the ".3" after the 1520 mean?

Like xandros9 was saying, it's an international variant of the 1520. As opposed to the AT&T version it comes with Qi charging and 32 GB of internal storage. It is also not tied to any carrier and in the US it works with both AT&T and T-Mobile (and whichever mvnos for both).

Yes, I have them on my phones. I don't mind having an extra layer of protection

No iam lumia 820 user.I don't use screen guard.

Simple question for you 1520 owners.

Previously I had the L920, which got few small sratches in just few weeks.

I then changed to the Ativ S, which I used for one and half years without any scratches appearing to the screen. And that phone was dropped many times, even on asphalt (lucky there I know). The whole housing of the Ativ was totally dent, but on the screen nothing.

To me its clear that the Ativ had stronger screen than the Lumia, but how about the L1520?

I believe the 1520 comes with Gorilla Glass 3 which should provide it with a decent level of protection from everyday scratches but not from drops.

I would seriously advise using a screen protector especially because it provides a decent level of protection while also not impacting the responsiveness of the display.

Some 1520s have specific touch problems for which you could claim warranty but if you somehow manage to break the display warranty can't be claimed.

You guys need to try tempered glass screen protectors. They have the same glassy look and feel as original screen, and adds only 0,3mm-0,55mm depending on manufacturer. Yes they glare a bit, doesn't bother me though. They sell cheap at ebay.

I am thinking about that. But if I keep my case on my phone and nothing else in my pockets apart from my phone (no spare change, keys etc..) then I should be good. But as you pointed out...a glass screen protector is a good move and may get one too for extra protection. Can you give a link to a recommended seller ?

The 1520 has Gorilla Glass 2.....

Yes Gorilla Glass 2 on the 1520, 930 has Gorilla Glass 3.

Im just little worried because of the so easily scratched L920. It seems though that there arent many reporting sctatching their 1520 easily?

Anyway I ordered few regular protectors and one tempered glass one. The regular ones are so cheap on eBay and I wanted to see one of those glass ones in real life. Not sure will I be using any of those at the end though.

A case would be nice for protection, but I have a feeling that it would be on the way. I dont use a wallet neither :D

I think looking at it now, that the Lumia 920 had Gorilla Glass 1 and the Ativ-S Gorilla Glass 2. I can tell you the difference on scratch resistance on those was HUGE.

Another thing I just noticed... The screen on my 1520 is not totally in level. We are talking about very small difference, but still clearly visible when looking from the bottom (or top), the screen is about half mm higher on the right side...

Wow that must be quite annoying. Nokia seriously needs to address the display issues on their otherwise amazing devices.

I have a 1020 with an Amzer gel case but no screen protector. Seems fine to me. Prob have some hair line scratches but that is fine.

My point remains valid, Gorilla Glass are designed to keep the phone safe from scratches with keys and sometimes even knives.

But in a drop the Gorilla Glass won't survive.

Agree about your valid point, but just making sure you have the correct information about the 1520...

Had mine since last Dec, no screen protector and not a single tiny scratch or scuff on the screen. I also never keep my phone anywhere but my right pocket and never put anything in my pocket with it. Also I never place my phone screen down anywhere.
