Armageddon

What I don't get is why put out a phone then spend months explaining why that's just silly.

Here is what I think. Nokia was headed for Android and Microsoft bought the company to stop this from happening. Nokia refused to pull back on the project until the deal is done. Microsoft does have enough influence at this point to force the "Were doing this to support MS services" point.

The end game this project fails and these devices disappear in 6 months or as soon as Microsoft takes over completely.

I think they went with Android because all their Symbian and Meego guys left when Elop went the Microsoft route and they wanted a free OS for the low-end phones and a backup in case Windows didn't work out.

These devices are an embarrassment to both Microsoft and Nokia. No matter how they sell it its a device without a home. Do you really announce a new Android device then spend 2+ hours explaining why and how it should work. That's a joke. Here is how every other device launch goes... Sony... Here is our new Android phone... Here are the specs... The buttons are on the side... DONE!

Can you call a device launch a publicity stunt. The only positive is these devices have people talking. Well mostly laughing at Microsoft and Nokia.
