AT&T not letting me unlock - what should I do?

Press the new service option and from there ask to be sent to the department you need. It's a bit frustrating, but it will get you someone

Absolutely do NOT do this. It's not the job of the sales team to be receptionists.

These people are graded by the number of calls they convert to sales and by you pressing that button and not buying anything, creates a missed opportunity for that person to perform on their job. I know people who have lost their job in sales because of these metrics and people calling just to get a live person thinking it is harmless. It reduces the effectiveness of that dept. and additional wait times for those that do need sales reps.

My best recommendation that I have tried and has worked repeatedly is to dial 8003310500 and press 0 at the first sound of a new automated recording every time a new one starts. 3 times in total gets me to a live rep. in customer service that can answer questions. It works every time.

There really isn't a kind way to put this. I am an ATT customer. I PAY them a large sum of money each month for them to support me, not someone else who doesn't pay them. Sorry for your poor purchase choice. I suggest selling the locked phone and buying something already unlocked. Good luck.

Like one of the earlier posts, try the online chat and tell the representative there that you are travelling online or just bought it off Amazon and you need the unlock code.My brother bought the 920 from Amazon and then gifted it to me( i live in India btw). I thankfully got my unlock code like that. This would be a better option than going for unlocking through other websites (cell unlocker etc).

When I unlocked my 920 , I did it after having to wait the six months of exclusivity they had and through the online chat. The guy on the chat was nice and he gave me the code right away. That was my last carrier attached phone. After that I started to buy international unlocked phones. Tired of AT&T and their CR@#
