The NSRT worked perfectly for me. Just needed to reinstall Update 1. Finally have Cyan, took long enough!

I just finished 920 number 3 and it went really quick via NSRT. I waited 2 days before reinstalling update 1 but everything is running fantastically. 920 #4 will have to wait for the DP fix OTA.

so far so good for me.
My 920 still has a fair bit of lag but its alot quicker than it was with the black update.
Impressive for a 2 yo device.
But, all this said, I wish they updated us 3-4 months ago.
If they did, I would have had more of a chance to feel it out, and give it a go for a while before considering a switch back to ios, but with a few weeks till the iphone6 is released, I doubt i'm staying.
At&t I think is more to blame than Nokia on this front, but what do they care.
No knocks on Windows Phone though overall, happy to see its expanding user base, especially in the foreign market where I think they will gain a lot of tracktion.

I ended up using NSRT to reflash my ATT 920 to Cyan 8.1. After backing up my stuff, it was a one step process. There wasn't anything in 8.1 Update 1 DP for me to miss anyway. My phone is a bit more stable after flashing.

I don't know that I'll be getting another Lumia WP device when my contract ends. These fancy-named firmwares only seem to hold things up when updates roll out. No other WP device seems to need them when getting updates. The new HTC phone looks nice.

Did you just use the built in backup, or did you separately backup photos, videos to your PC? Also, did you lose any settings, app settings, start screen or anything at all? I'm tempted to go ahead and use the NSRT; I'm assuming it will clear out my 5GB of Other and hopefully make my aging 920 snappier.

I manually backed up my pics, music, vids, docs and then did a backup through the phone for installed apps. I did lose my start screen on first boot and I had to set all my email accounts back up, but no biggie. Copied everything back over and all was good. My battery lasts longer now as well.
