I'm still unsure why people believe this phone should be $199 on contract. I know it's the flagship phone, but at $199 it's competing with smartphones (android for example) that have near 40% of the smartphone market.

Windows Phone has about 4% of the market, they need to sell like crazy. The best way to do that is to drop the price to make the choice of going with WP8 a much much easier one.

I agree, it just surprised me. Maybe Apple's pricing has me brainwashed.
