Battery Not Detected on Surface

So I've put in an advanced replacement order, as I'm already experiencing some nasty bugs. My battery appears to have completely kicked the bucket, it still functions but the surface reads "No battery detected", so I have no idea how much time is left on it. It's also extremely difficult to turn on after shut down, requiring multiple attempts of completely arbitrary power button hold time to start. There was some suggestion as to holding down the power and volume up keys for 15 seconds after shutdown, which did nothing as well. It is fully updated as far as I can tell. I suppose it's a little late now as the order is already made, but has anyone else had or solved these issues?

I have the original surface and had only one problem with the tab not charging.
Also had a glitchy restart on button seemed to take up to five minutes to boot up.
This was before any recent updating.
Ended up refreshing the Surface and haven't seen any hardware problems since.
