Battery Saver

This might be a stupid question, but... what does battery saver do? As in... what services/features does it restrict in order to save the battery?

it prevents automatic synch of stuff like mail and disables apps running in the background, however when battery saver kicked in on my mozart it didn't disable the network dashboard app which can run in the background

It just closes down your data so things like email and Weather channel app for example wont sync. Apps that don't use data will continue to run. You will get all your phone calls and text messages.
