Hi Guys, just updated to 8.1 and found the BBC iplayer site no longer works. I think it maybe because it takes me to the mobile site! Any ideas how I can fix this as this is a real pain.

Cheers

Mark

I have been looking into this further and I am sure this is a user-agent issue. If I press f12 in the desktop ie and select Internet explorer 10 as the user agent string the desktop version of iplayer loads. Doing this is not a solution as the change is not permanent and does not apply to the metro version. Is there any way I can roll back to Windows 8 as this is a major issue for me. Cheers Mark

Changing the user agent does nothing for me the only one it gets a reaction from is WP8 but it then tells me there is a app for this platform.

Once the user agent is changed you must keep the developer tools open and reload the iplayer pages. That may help but as I said it is not a solution ....

Desktop browser can now display it but the Metro one can't. Although the desktop one seems to be confused as you get the error message at the top of the page but underneath you get the desktop site displaying.

Edit: deleted cookies in Metro and now displaying properly.

Edit2: And it has stopped working again.

Hi Mark,
Have you found a solution to this yet? My browser is Google Chrome. I contacted bbc and they told me to reinstall as issues had been fixed. I still can't find a metro app to use to make this function. Just wondered if you or anyone else had solved the riddle that is bbc iPlayer downloads for Windows 8.1 users.
Cheers, Chris
