I know that whenever you ask "What is the Best" of anything, all you are going to get is peoples opinions..... and that is what I am looking for...opinions..... I currently am using a iPhone 6+ and like it, but want to make the switch to Windows.... I tried a few months ago with an HTC M8 and just don't like it... nothing specific.. just didn't like it....

I like a BIG phone, good battery, and a great camera... nothing much more than that.. Would just like to hear peoples thoughts...

Thanks

If you're looking for a big phone; 1520 :) it has the three criteria you listed so it's perfect for you

I'm just here to say he nailed it on the head. Currently, the Nokia Lumia 1520 is the beast of Windows Phone.

The camera (and virtually all the hardware) are the same on the Icon and the 1520. However, Verizon retired the Icon a few months ago, you may be able to find one in your local Microsoft Store, if there is one. It's unavailable at Verizon stores, online or on the Microsoft online store...

Of course, there's always eBay and the like, but as far as new in the box from the store...you're going to have trouble finding an Icon.

The HTC One M8 for Windows

I know you LOVE the One M8, James... But the OP already tried it.

I think an Icon would be a good fit if you can do a 5" screen. Vzw compatible all the way. Way high on the ppi rating on the screen. Internal storage only, no expansion slot. A lot of similarity to an iPhone actually now that another poster made the comparison I can really see that. It is one of the top 3 Windows Phones out right this moment. The big 3 being One M8 (which you didn't care for), the 1520 (which is a GSM phone and not the best connectivity fit for Vzw with its CDMA based network) and the Icon which is the US/Vzw exclusive version of the Lumia 930.

Here's a spec sheet. comparing it to iPhone 6. Nokia Lumia Icon vs. Apple iPhone 6 - GSMArena.com

The camera is definitely one of the best features with 20 MP capturing an oversampled 5MP jpg and 16 or 19 MP DNG files (depending on aspect ratio). These DNG files are the same as RAW and are a lossless file for post shot editing with lots of detail to work with if you use lightroom, GIMP or any similar software. It is the exact camera as in the 1520. And the Icon just got the Denim update which makes the camera faster and leverages more of its power to address some previous criticisms.

That sounds perfect.. I wish it was a little bigger.... but that seems like a perfect fit....... I know there are always rumors going around.. but any new "flagships" on the horizon? If the Icon is on its way out, should I hold on for a little while?

I see that I can buy one on Ebay for about $250 factory refurbished.... should I feel comfortable buying a refurbished phone or a used one???

Rumors are for a flagship sometime around late Q3 (I've seen September bandied about), which is still quite a few months away, and I would be extremely surprised if Verizon gets it after the debacle with the Icon.

If you want to stay on VZ, and want a Windows phone, your best bet is a (hard-to-find) Icon, or the M8, which you've already said you're not a fan of....
