I was having devastating battery problems, but currently my phone is doing quite well even with wifi and location services enabled.
I did however, go through every app I had and disable the option for those individual apps to use location services.
Also, I had a weird thing where my phone would go hot every time the notification center had a message. I went through the notification options and removed the "default" sound (which seems undefined on the phone) and specifically set them to existing alert sounds. No more fiery notification center battery drain.
Yesterday by lunch my phone was down to about 17% and only had even that much left because I had moved it to airplane mode. Today with pretty heavy news article reading (about 40 minutes) it's still sitting at 87%.
