Black Screen when hitting power button

A friend of mine just switched from Android to WP and got the Icon. He loves the phone but is having an issue with the phone becoming unresponsive at times. When hitting the power button to turn on the screen it sometimes stays black and becomes unresponsive for 5-10 minutes before it will work.

I think it may be a faulty proximity sensor but if anyone else has had similar issues or knows what the problem may be please let me know so I can pass on the info.

I think you're right. Even with WP8.1 I have only a .5 to 1 sec delay when waking the phone.

He did do the 8.1 update but I am not aware of a firmware update? Now that you mention it I remember a vague story of Verizon releasing an update a little while ago but im not sure if it was for the Icon. I am an AT&T customer.

It was for the icon. You need to be on 8.0 to get it. You'll have to check the other threads to get the version number, maybe he has it?
