Bring back the old People Hub!

No they just need the transition from the people hub to facebook app, when opening a post, a bit smoother.. Get rid of the annoying splash screen..

This is correct, but I'm not sure the OP really wants the OLD hub, as much as some of the old features. For example, the 8.1 hub still shows my Facebook status messages, as well as how many comments it has. Since it is still pulling in my updates, why not pull in the comments for me to read? Sure if I want to reply to any of them, take me to the app. I'm cool with that, but just give some people some more "read only" stuff. And maybe that is coming.

Hm...that makes a lot of sense. If that's something that can be done, I'd like to see that as well.

No need for it anymore. However I would like to see smart dialing now after 8.1!

The integrated FB was lagging too much, they had to let it go. Not lagging in speed, it was great on that, but lagging in features. Posts/groups not showing and couldnt like replies. Sad to see it go, but its better that they will push to give us in the future one good(BEST) solution to FB than 2-3-4-5 crippled ones.

The only thing I miss from the people hub is the ability to post to both Twitter and Facebook at the same time

There was an article today on WPCentral about a workaround of sorts using Path in that thread there was a reference to another app called onelove

The OP needs to read Daniel post on this. There is a ton more that can be done with how it is now than before. The apps just aren't ready yet. The integration is determined by how far the developer of the app wants to take it. As far as the Facebook app goes, the time it takes for the app to open once I hit "post to timeline" is 1/2 second max. I post then hit the back button & i'm back to the hub in 1/4 second.....

I think once developers get a better handle of WP8.1, then I can see an app being made that will be able to use the People Hub to post on numerous social sites at one time.

There are a few people here that understand my gripe with the new People Hub. Others just seem to say the new way is better basically for technical reasons (No more reliance on FB, less chance of a broken hub, ect). I understand all of that. I really do.

But that fact remains, for me, the flow and usefulness of the PB is diminished when you constantly have to launch into another app to do something. The original reason for the People Hub is just that, a hub, for all things social. If I wanted to launch a new app everytime I wanted to do something I'd get an iPhone.

Another reason for my disappointment as well is simply that the FB app sucks. Sure, it works. It just that it looks like it was designed by first year design students for the lowest common denominator of user.

Anyway, I'll get used to it and things will steadily iimprove - I hope. Zune rocked but after 3 years XBox Music still sucks.

Messages taking 45+ mins to arrive via fb or fb messenger or fb beta, I need the old style sms/fbchat combo, it works flawlessly and I loved that feature (sprint sms can take up to two days to arrive) so it was a godsend that stopped me switching companies.
Feeling let down.

Agreed. But the People Hub for me wasn't a replacement for FB, just a place where I could quickly and easily do 80% of what I wanted to do.

I use a tablet and a laptop for full FB features...just me.

^^
I agree with everything you have said. I really don't care about the technical side of why it will be better, the simple fact remains it isn't better. It is a retrograde step that removes necessary functionality that I have come to rely on since WP7. I also prefer the design language first put forward that seems to be constantly watered down by people that simply don't understand good design must include negative space.

Using the integrated OS functionality for me was never about having access to all the features it was about getting things done in a simple, logical and central manner. I don't want to load an app for something that doesn't need it. If I want added app functionality I will load the app. Jefbeard911 is correct, much of what needs to be done could be done with the simple OS FB functionality provided. The problem is in trying to move the OS forward MSFT have destroyed the only element that really sets WP apart from competition. If I wanted an app launcher and app centric phone there are better options than WP.

I chose WP on it's ability to provide something personal to me and the way I like to use my phone. I cannot see how we can expect FB and similar to develop windows hub integration when their advertising is being circumvented, we will now be forced to use Apps to do the things we once took for granted and be relegated to working much like all Android and IOS users do. First MSFT destroyed Zune, then took Courier from us, dumbed down Windows 8 and the XBOXONE and now this retrograde step. We are being sold a lemon and innovation goes wanting as usual.

I wish MSFT would stick to their guns and force their innovation on us instead of backing down on the 'hard' elements and taking us back to square one.

I rarely post.
And I have been a huge fan of W8 and WP8 from the start. Simply amazing leap forward for this fella.
(Took a sim out of my IPhone, a few Octobers(?) ago, just to check out the newly release Lumia 920. Never went back)

Having said all that, I'm 100% in agreement with the OP!
I LOVED the People Hub and the SIMPLE way it presented me with the "What's New" feed.
I though it was amazingly elegant and simple. Stunning in fact, for a dad that just wants to see what his kids and family were saying.

Now it makes me not want to actually click and see. :(
It was a Facebook, twitter, lurkers dream.

Would love to go to "settings" and break the relationship between People Hub and the app itself.
