This is the part that bothers me. I will not settle for a device where this is necessary to make it function closer (no where near) to advertised. I commend you for being so forgiving but $2K for me should provide peace of mind not perfecting my underclocking/troubleshooting skills.
I understand, but, there is literally 0 competition for this form factor with size, weight and functionality. So really, there is nothing better than a SP4 or that out performs a SP4 in this area... YOU CAN get an Ultrabook that also has a pen and touch screen (HP Spectre and Dell Inspiron 7000 series). Both weigh more, batteries last the same on the dell and maybe an hour or 2 more on the Spectre, but then you're losing the ability to detach your keyboard and use it only as a tablet. You could move to a standard ultrabook with a 1080p display and no touch screen or pen, those usually get better battery life, but I wouldn't say you'd get double or anything like that! Lenovo has a yoga series with a core M which gets VERY good battery life, but once again, no pen, and for me the pen is a BIG plus! Or just a plain old laptop! Those get GREAT battery life. My brother's core i5 from Dell, which cost him 700 euros, lasts around 10-12 hours of battery life, but it weighs A TON and it's SUPER chunky!
That's the thing: I'm VERY happy with my device because it's super thin, under 800 GRAMS (yes, 800 grams! That's NOTHING) and lasts me a good 6-9 hours, which is fantastic for the size and weight -- taking into account the processing power of this bad boy! You won't find ANYTHING else on the market with this computing power, form factor, size and weight... Even the new device Samsung released are, again, Core M, so are limited in processing power.
I'm not saying the SP4 is perfect, it has issues, but I don't have any physical defects, software works well for me except for the usual bugs here and there (let's be honest, EVERY device has issues, even every generation of iPhone launch has had big issues like battery life, security bugs or screen calibration etc.)
I feel for the tech, cash and product, I'm well served for the money. I paid 1,525 euros for a i5/256/8gb sp4, 3 years of extended warranty and the keyboard. I pay more or less the same from year to year changing phones

(I mean over the course of 3 years, as I have the warranty for this device for 3 years)... And a PC will last a lot longer than 3 years, as long as I don't break it of course.
