can I replace only the front glass on my 950 XL, or do I have to replace the whole LCD component?

Dropped the phone outside, right corner chipped and spider web cracks throughout. However, there is nothing wrong with the digitizer, all information is being displayed clearly through shattered glass.

In general it's usually possible to do a glass-only replacement BUT it is very difficult. (as in, I would not attempt it unless I had nothing to lose and I'm no stranger to the internals of a phone)

Generally buying the whole display assembly is the best way to go.
