Can I retrieve work wiped by the Media Creation Tool?

[Windows Central Question]

I just downloaded the media creation tool after 3 failed attempts of trying to install windows 10 (I can't access the internet with windows 10).
It asked for 3GB of free data but my USB stick for uni is a 16GB stick and it had about 11GB free.
I didn't know it would wipe my data..

Any idea where I can find my uni work that was on my thumbstick? :/

Hi, you are not going to be able to retrieve it.
The Media Creation Tool would have formatted the USB stick in the process of setting it up.

I had the same thing happen to me. I just recopied the files as I had backups of them.
