Can I use an old internal hard drive to boot Windows form OLD PC?

As title.Can I boot another version of Windows 10 from a hard drive that I ripped from my old PC via a USB connection?I bought a SATA to USB connector and tried to boot, but it wasn't reconised.I'm a bit of a n00b when it comes to this, so am I missing another lead?The HDD has an 8 pin port next to the Sata III port.

It’s unlikely you'll be able to boot Windows 10 directly from your old hard drive via a USB connection. Windows installations are often tied to the hardware they were originally set up on, and attempting to boot via USB can cause driver or bootloader conflicts.
