Cannot browse phone via Windows Explorer, stuck in MTP mode

When I plug my phone into my PC via USB, it's not recognized.
When I go to Device Manager, it's listed as a Portable Device: MTP USB Device (and sometimes, shows up under "Other Devices -> Unknown Device")

Under "Universal Serial Bus devices" there are 3 entries:
Lumia 830 (RM-985)
Lumia 830 (RM-985)
Lumia 830 (RM-985)

When I uninstall all 4-5 and reboot the phone/PC, no luck. It reinstalls itself as MTP. I've also tried to manually install the "Windows Phone - Other hardware - WinUsb Device" drivers from the Microsoft website, no luck.

Re: Cannot browse phone via Windows Explorer, stuck in MTP mode

Unistall all 5 drivers (with delete option) and reboot PC. Install "Windows Device Recovery Tool" (V.3.3.31)
Run the program, and then connect your phone. Fresh, new version of drivers should then install.

The only option is a wipe & replace? Everything works (phone/pc - all apps & functions), only connecting via USB is broken.
