can't create recovery USB under win 8.1

i just got a surface pro 3 and need to reset my surface pro ( 1 )
after i bought SP1 i did upgrade to windows 8.1

i'm now trying to build a USB restore unit but it won't do it says that some file needed are not on the disk

if your surface came with Windows 8 and then you upgraded to Windows 8.1 you can't create restore disks because the image contained in the recovery partition is a Win8 image and these files can't be mixed with the data of your current Win8.1 installation to create a recovery disk

you have to save all you can on an external drive and plan a full clean installation of Windows 8.1 to restore your tabet
