Can't find newly created files after upgrading to windows 10

Windows Central Question

Right after upgrading to windows 10, I have created some access and excel files and also downloaded some files as well. After saving, I shut the computer down. The next day, I came back to work on those files, they are gone and I can't find them where I saved them or even in the recycle bin. Is there any way to retrieve those files or at least keep the new files from being automatically deleted?
