Can't preview ringtones; no notification sounds

Hi-

I'm running the latest Windows mobile 10 on my Lumia 640. When I try to select a ringtone for any app, there's no sound when I press to preview it and most apps do not play any notification sounds. I do get a sound when the phone rings and for AT&T text messages, but that's it. I've checked the volume settings. I had no problem previewing ringtones in 8.1.

Can anyone help?
