Can't save downloaded music from Groove

So I've had this problem for a long time, and I'm getting to the point where I'm sick of it, the service is literally useless to me.

But if I download music on my phone using the groove music pass, it'll download, but the next time I go to open the app all the songs are basically deleted off my phone and I have to stream them or download again.

Has anyone figured out a way to make sure music downloaded actually stays on phone? I've seen people post the same issue
 
Have you tried ticking or unticking some of the buttons in Groove's settings? E.g. "Downloads (Automatically download songs here after you add or buy them on other devices)" and/or "OneDrive (When I add a song to OneDrive, remove any version that came from Groove Music Pass)".

I would have provided screen shots if it weren't for the fact that the Windows Central app and site doesn't allow me to do it unless I sit in front of a real computer with a non-scaled down browser.
