Car charging the X3

I realize usb ports are backwards compatible but I have a verizon car charger 3.4 amp that has a USB and lighted micro USB cord. I think I can use the usb port to charge the X3, but I'm asking if anyone has tried it or knows if there could be a problem. Don't need to brick an expensive phone
