Hello,

has anyone successfully used a usb powerbank to chard their s3? I have a lumsing which puts out 2.1A, which doesn't charge the device even using the usb cable from the wall plug provided with the s3.

It's my understanding that you need a 2.5A charger, is this correct?

Thanks.

I have succesfully charged my S3 with this one.

Yes, with the original cable (bundled with the original Surface 3 charger).

No, with another USB cable (dirt cheap cable costing <$2).

I guess there is some problem with your USB powerbank. Maybe the output current is not as high as stated (2.1A). Mine is also 5V 2.1A.

Microsoft rep at the store said need to ensure cable supports the higher power for charging.

I have 2 Anker bricks ...one old black one with the 4 blue lights that is quite prevalent and the newer "shake" version.
Old one didn't work with the the cable and adapter it came with but did with a regular USB to micro USB cable.
Likewise with the newer Anker.
Seemed to charge relatively fast.
