checking for apps' updates

hi guys
when i connect to wi-fi and open marketplace, i believe that the phone is not checking for apps' updates. it's only happenning when i connect the phone to pc and open zune. is it supposed to be like that?

Phone is always checking for updates in the background, either over Data or WiFi. But if you very seldom have a connection open (like if Data and WiFi are usually turned off) that can be a problem. With 160 apps/games I get updates almost every day, usually in late afternoon or sometime after midnight.
