Clearing search box on the search bar

I have a Nokia Lumia 830 with Windows mobile 8.1 with latest update. When typing in the search bar on Internet Explorer my previous searches pop up in a box and I am unable to clear this box. I have deleted history but my previous searches are not cleared. Please can someone help.

You can press on the individual item and a remove option pops up.

Did you remove the history from the recent option after selecting the three dots on the bottom by selecting the bin icon?

It should have worked I guess.

In IE: Settings/ Advanced settings/ Manage storage - maybe you want delete everything you have there and that will solve your issue?

I've done all the above but nothing happening. I've done a soft reset but that didn't work and I don't really want to do a hard reset. Maybe if and when I get the Windows 10 update I'll be able to sort it.
